METU-BİLTİR Centre (METU-Computer Aided Design, Manufacturing and Robotic Research and Application Centre) is one of the interdisciplinary research and application centres of Middle East Technical University was founded in 1992. The Centre, which was restructured in 1999 with the understanding of central units formed with the participation of many faculty members from various faculties and departments of METU, has the following 11 central units, whose foundation years are indicated in parentheses:

BİLTİR Center has realized the following FIRSTS for Turkey:

  • First CAD/CAM/Robotics Lab (1992)
  • First Product Usability Lab (2003)
  • First Metal Forming Research and Application Laboratory (2007)
  • First Undamaged Crash Test Laboratory (2009)

BİLTİR Central Undamaged Collision Laboratory was first accredited by TÜRKAK Turkish Accreditation Agency on November 14, 2011, and the validity period of the accreditation was extended until March 3, 2024 as a result of the audit.

Laboratories operate within the central units.

In addition, the SAVTEK Defense Technologies Congress was initiated by the BİLTİR Centre in 2002 and is held every two years.
